Jacob Gagnon is a 17 year old senior at Suffield high school in his first year in journalism. He moved to Suffield in April of 2020 but his life before Suffield in Winstead has still shaped him into who he is today. 

“There weren’t many people around, it was a secluded area, so I learned to work by myself, figure things out.”

Jacob plays baseball year round but he still finds time for the other activities he enjoys like golfing, working out, and fishing.

“I really like going fishing. I have a kayak that I got for my birthday this year and (I’ve) been out a couple times. I was able to catch some fish.”

Jacob’s love for sports was a major player in his decision to take journalism, but curiosity also played a role. 

“I would like to dive a little deeper into reporting on (sports), and just getting to know how a newspaper works…the reporting side of things, that interests me.” 

Jacob is committed to Westfield State as a two-way player being both a RHP and a 1st baseman. Specifics of his major are still up in the air but he knows where he wants to end up. 

“I’m going to Westfield State. I’m not decided on a major yet but I would like to move into exercise science.”
