Summer is drawing near, and here’s the real question: What are things that students can do that won’t make them beg for school to come sooner?
Well, when asked around, here were the top 8 results:
1. Create a “Chaos Playlist” with Friends
Super simple, all you need are friends and a mutually-used music app (We recommend Spotify, YouTube Music, or Apple Music)
Each person adds 5-10 totally random songs… instant entertainment!
2. Host a Backyard Movie Night
Blankets/pillows, Projector (or just a laptop), snacks, and good vibes (maybe a cheesy movie or two)
3. Start a “No Stakes” Book or Show Club
Pick some trashy or hilarious movies or books you can laugh about with your friends and make a club out of it
4. Take Random Day Trips
Google “Weird things to do near me” and pick something bizarre (Our favorite Google find was Roaring Acres Alpacas in Suffield CT)
5. Get into a Dumb Hobby
Candle making? Worm composting? Bad haikus?
I’ve recently gotten into haikus as well… here’s my haiku about getting out of bed:
No no no no no,
No no no no no no no
No no no no no.
I have a feeling that will be my #1 used haiku this summer!
6. Do a “24-Hour Challenge” With Yourself
Wear only one color, eat only green foods, speak like a pirate, stay off your phone (kidding!)
7. Film a Fake Mini-Doc
Interview your friends like they’re celebrities. Bonus points for editing it like a serious documentary!
8. Make an “Everything But the Pool” Summer Bucket List
Get creative! Water balloon tennis, slip n’ slide bowling, ice bath challenges, etc… No pool? No problem.
Summer doesn’t have to be some magical productivity boot camp, but you also don’t have to let your brain completely melt. Try something fun, dumb, random, or new – and if nothing else, at least you’ll have good stories when school starts again.
